THE SCOOP

The Fun

  • Chalk colors really pop

  • Super easy assembly

  • Great price

The Frustration

  • Not height adjustable

  • Relatively small work space

Overview

The Easel for Two is one of our Best Buys. This easel offers all the essentials: chalkboard, magnetic dry erase board, and paper holders. And it comes at a great price: Many retailers offer the Easel for Two at well under $50. It doesn't have as expansive a work space as some other easels, but chalk really pops on the green surface and the magnetized dry erase board works well, too. Bonus: Assembly is a breeze!

Assembly doesn't get any easier. Just pop the tray onto the holds and punch the letters and numbers out of the foam pieces.

Features

The Easel for Two has all the features we look for in a children's art easel: chalkboard, magnetic dry erase board, and a paper holder. In this case, there are clasps on both sides that act as paper holders.

How well it works

Chalk shows up quite well on the Easel for Two. The colors really pop against the green background. It fares better than most on chalk erasing, though there are still traces of chalk even after a vigorous effort with the eraser. It comes pretty clean when wiped with a wet paper towel. Dry erase marker had good visibility and erased cleanly.

The Easel for Two does not include a dowel. You attach paper to one of the clasps on the top of either side of the easel. It holds the paper securely, though not as securely as the easels that had top and bottom clasps.

The working surface is on the small side. While it offers a decent amount of space for creation, other models we reviewed offered more expansive working spaces.

Accessories

The Easel for Two comes with:

  • Magnets

Components

The Easel for Two itself is of good quality. It's score here took a hit because it's not height adjustable and because it only comes with magnets in terms of accessories.
