Overview
The Calico Critters Luxury Townhome makes your life easier. It’s essentially an all-in-one package with enough furniture and two super cute bunny figures to get your kiddo playing right away. Plus, assembly is a breeze. We would’ve loved for the rooms to be a little wider, but the floor extension helps.
Accessories
The Calico Critters Luxury Townhome Gift Set comes with basic furniture for a bedroom, study, kitchen, and eating area, plus a piano and two bunny critters.
There’s also some super cute accessories, particularly for the kitchen—a blender, a toaster, tiny jars of jam. Yum.
You can absolutely get by with what comes in this kit. If we were going to supplement, we’d go for the Calico Critters Bunk Bed Set or the Calico Critters Loft Bed so there’s somewhere for little bunny to sleep. We’d think about the Deluxe Bathroom Set, too, though that might actually be too much furniture to fit inside the Townhome.
Assembly
Assembly is a breeze. We’re talking 20 minutes. Maybe.
You’ll need a screwdriver and two AA batteries to get the working lights up and running (and to attach the hinge that holds the two main pieces of the house together).
The only weird part is that the directions aren’t all in one place. The bulk of the instructions are printed on the product box. Inside there are also two slips of paper that show how to attach the lights inside the house and how to insert a screw into the central hinge.

Play Value
The house has four (possibly five, depending on whether you use the divider) rooms. But those rooms are somewhat small when it comes to play space. They are fairly deep, but not as wide as we would have liked to allow little hands ample space to move around.
The set comes with an attachment that you can use to extend the bottom floor (or flip it over to create a grassy outdoor space) as well as a balcony extension for the second floor. These pieces open things up quite a bit, and our littlest testers often used this additional play space.
The rooms themselves are quite basic, which leaves the storytelling possibilities wide open. There is a movable wall and two working lights, but no sound effects. There’s also something wonderfully open-ended about the critters, which come with no backstory. They were very engaging for our littlest testers.
The included furniture and accessories work well. There are some cute details and some working parts (i.e., the piano opens and closes, as does the stove).

Quality
The house is study and the pieces have an excellent, quality feel to them.
A couple pieces arrived slightly discolored.

Once the pieces were installed in the house, the discoloration was not noticeable.
The house closes and is easily movable if you remove the patio attachment.
